Imagine that these Outbreak actors and plot elements have morphed into their Andromeda Strain counterparts: Dustin Hoffman into Benjamin Bratt; the virulent Ebola virus into a much deadlier, faster-acting Andromeda virus; the infected monkey into a virus-carrying military satellite that fell out of Earth orbit; the picturesque California hamlet into a seedier, less affluent rural town in Utah; the fuel-air bomb delivered by military cargo aircraft into a tactical nuclear device delivered by F-16 fighter jet; the anti-virus stored at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta into an anti-virus stored at a California university. Then, steal from Independence Day the indecisive president who has a pretty wife and charming young daughter, and who puts his wife in harm's way by sending her to L.A. for a speaking engagement. Add Eric McCormack as a tenacious but drug-addicted investigative reporter, and some fairly large plot holes, and you've got the picture. This mini-series will consume three hours of your life which you will never get back.
